This simple curved stitching calendar project was created by a primary school teacher for a class of 8 and 9 year olds. The project will help children practice measuring skills and demonstrate how a curve can be created by a number of straight lines. MaterialsA rectangle of card 150 mm x 210 mm (6 x 8 inches) Equipment Pencil Method Using the ruler and pencil mark up the design on the back of the card.
Lay the card on the foam pad and prick the holes using the darning needle. Stitch the design as followings:
Section 1 Take a length of wool just over a meter long (44 inches). Thread your needle and tie a knot in the end of the thread.Starting at the back of the card push the needle into hole number 1 and come out of the front. Pull the wool through until the knot is tight against the back of the card. Take the wool across the front of the card go in at hole number 2. From the back to the front come out at hole number 3 across the card and in at hole number 4. Out at 5 in at 6. Continue stitching in this sequence moving forward one hole at a time until section 1 is complete. Tie a knot in the end of the wool on the back of the card to secure it.
