Stitching Cards at www.stitchingcards.comFree sewing patterns for greetings cardsYou can create beautiful greetings cards by sewing the design directly on to the card. A finished card can be produced in an hour or two depending on the design. The first step is to download one of our free patterns and print the pricking pattern and instructions. Then gather up your materials. You will need some colourful thread. Metallic thread or the type made for machine embroidery works best. It has to be strong to withstand the abrasive nature of stitching through card. The holes are pricked with a sharp pointed tool. When you are starting out you can improvise with a hat pin or even a large needle stuck into a cork to make it easier to grip. I use a number 10 embroidery needle for the general stitching and a fine beading needle when adding seed beads to the design. We have a demonstration showing how stitching cards are made.
